Welcome to the world of stately home owners and golfers
Set out on pedal bike from Sunparks Zandvoort aan Zee. The Duin- en Kruidberg cycling route (Dune and Herb Mountain) starts in the heart of Zandvoort. During your ride, you will be discovering the Duin- en Kruidberg natural area, formerly an estate owned by rich merchants. Which explains why you will find yourself pedalling along imposing lanes lined with beech and chestnut trees. Nature was given free rein in this area. Shetland ponies and Scottish Highland herds graze the dune landscape whilst plant lovers will discover rare vegetation such as Grass of Parnassus and centauria. The Elswout estate in Overveen is well worth a break. Leave your bike for a while and take a walk through the English gardens that surround this appealing little château.
Here, the choice is entirely yours. Either you continue to follow the Duin- en Kruidberg which will see a total of 34 km on the clock by the time you finish and which will take you straight back to the Sunparks Zandvoort aan Zee entrance gate.
Or you return to Zandvoort town centre, where you will find De Harlekijn café beckoning you for a drink.
How about a round of golf in the afternoon? Everybody is welcome at Open Golf Zandvoort. The friendly golf club is just a few minutes on bike from Sunparks Zandvoort aan Zee. In fact, the club lays on lessons for beginners whereas seasoned golfers will face nine challenging holes in the magnificent dunes.
